Wife, mom, artist, and full-time chaos wrangler with a camera in one hand and snacks in the other. I live for the real stuff—belly laughs, big feelings, chipped nail polish, and quiet light that sneaks through the window just right.
This work is how I see the world…
and how I love it back.

If you’ve ever thought, “We should probably book family photos…”
chances are your next thought was:
“Maybe in the fall?”
You’re not wrong.
But you’re also not getting the full picture.
Because after years of photographing families across Loudoun County and Northern Virginia, I can tell you this:
The “best” time for family photos has a lot less to do with the season—and a lot more to do with your life.
Fall is popular for a reason:
But it also comes with:
And because of that, fall sessions often feel… rushed.
Beautiful? Yes.
But not always the most relaxed or meaningful.
Spring in Northern Virginia is softer.

You get:
It feels lighter. Easier.
Especially for families with younger kids who don’t thrive in the pressure of a tightly packed fall calendar.
Summer gets overlooked—but it’s one of my favorite times to shoot.
Why?
Because families are different in the summer.

Schedules loosen.
Kids are outside more.
Evenings stretch longer.
Sessions can feel:
Yes, it’s warmer—but we work around that with timing and location.
Winter sessions aren’t for everyone—but when they work, they really work.
Think:
There’s something about winter that strips everything back to what matters most.
Connection stands out more.
Here’s the real answer:
The best time is when your life feels worth documenting.

That might be:
Because the truth is, no one ever looks back and says:
“I wish we had waited for better leaves.”
They look back and think:
“I’m so glad we have this.”
If you want something more practical, here’s a simple way to decide:
Or…
Choose the time that feels easiest to say yes to.
Because that’s usually when the best sessions happen.
Not the season.
Not the location.
Not even the outfits.
What matters most is:
That’s what you’ll see in your photos later.
That’s what lasts.
If you’re in Loudoun County or Northern Virginia and trying to figure out when to schedule your session, I’m happy to help you think it through.
No pressure—just a conversation about what would work best for your family.

You don’t need the “perfect” season.
You just need a moment you don’t want to forget.
